St John's College MCR

Welcome to the St John's College MCR site

The Middle Common Room (MCR, a.k.a. graduate student body) is, like the Senior Common Room and the Junior Common Room, an integral part of St John's College. The MCR is both the name for a group of students in College (the graduate students and some others) and for a place: the MCR building - arguably the best MCR in Oxford. The MCR offers a full calendar of events. Particularly famous and popular are the twice-termly black tie Guest Dinners, our Bops (Oxford term form party) and our Sunday desserts. At regular wine tastings, which we have in cooperation with the SCR, we try some of the treasures of the St John's wine cellar. If you are into sports you might be interested in our glorious football team or the legendary MCR rowing team. There is a lot more, but members can also just come along to the MCR and read newspapers or periodicals and have a cup of tea or coffee.
