Summary
The Graduate Parlour (GP) is the name of the Pembroke graduate common room (usually called an MCR at other colleges). The GP committee represents graduates to the college, organizes graduate social events, and looks after the day-to-day running of the GP.
Description
The Graduate Parlour serves as a common space for graduate students at Pembroke College and, as such, it has all the amenities that one might expect of a cosy living room. We keep it freshly stocked with all of the major daily and weekend newspapers, as well as journals on current affairs, economics, science, and entertainment. The Parlour is equipped with an espresso machine along with numerous varieties of tea, mate and drinking chocolate. We have web access, a weekly dvd showing, and all of the trappings of our packed social calendar. Mostly, however, we just like to meet for lunch in the GP, make good use of the shelves of books and board-games, and relax with friends in front of our lovely fireplace.
BA Dinners
BA dinner is our grad formal hall that is held on Thursdays in the Old Library. This is one of the main ways grads meet each other during the week, so be sure to come along!
Formal Swaps
We also have exchange dinners with other colleges. It's a great opportunity to see more of Cambridge and to meet new people! Check the weekly GP bulletin to see what formal swaps are on this term. Email Eva (eh348) to sign up.
GP Library
We collect books for the GP in a little GP library. Any member can use them, just grab them off the shelf! Along with the books that we bought we also have some that were contributed by Pembroke grads leaving Cambridge - many thanks to them!
