Summary
ELST is a Cambridge University Society that supports and coordinates volunteer teaching projects in South Asia and Mongolia. We are closely affiliated to the Cambridge charity of the same name.
Description
ELST is a Cambridge University Society closely affiliated with the Cambridge-based charity of the same name. Our aim is to advance education among the Tibetan communities living in exile in India and other Himalayan peoples. Past projects have included scholarships for Tibetans to undertake intensive English Language courses in Cambridge, and large-scale workshops in India. In the last five years we have organised volunteer placements in which a number of Cambridge students visit South Asia or Mongolia during the University's summer vacation. These placements have been very successful and we hope to continue to run them in the future.
