Summary
All Corpus graduate students are members of the MCR, which has its own constitution and is financed by part of the College Fee via the Junior Combination Room (JCR). All members of the MCR are full members of the JCR.
Description
MCR stands for Middle Combination Room. This is confusing since the term refers to the organisation to which all the postgraduate students at Corpus belong. You are a member of the MCR. Being a member of the MCR entitles you to certain rights and privileges. For example, you get to attend MCR open meetings and hang out in the Bachelors' Parlour (BP) in College. The MCR has an annual budget, spent by the MCR Committee on such things as social events, newspapers for Leckhampton House, sports equipment and information packs. Elections for the MCR Committee are held in November of each year, and you are most welcome - nay, encouraged - to stand for any position. The MCR committee is elected annually, and meets regularly to discuss matters of collective interest and to organise various activities. There are also termly Open Meetings, at which every MCR member has the opportunity to participate. Information regarding the activities of the MCR may be found on the notice boards in the BP or in Leckhampton House, and, of course, on this website. The MCR Committee are also your first point of call if you have problems or questions. For example, if you don't like the food, or you have special food needs, you should contact the Kitchen and Buttery Rep. If you have a nifty idea for saving the environment, our Green Officer should be the person you call. And so on, and so forth.
