Summary
The orchestra is run entirely by a student committee drawn from the players. This gives the musicians a real say in how CUSO operates, and means that the agenda is always set from within. Final decisions regarding repertoire are made by the conductors in direct consultation with the orchestra as a whole – we believe this to be unique in Cambridge.
Description
CUSO was founded in 1990 to be the first entirely student-run orchestra in Cambridge. It has quickly risen to prominence as an orchestra that not only produces results of consistently high artistic quality, but also has a reputation across the university as the friendliest musical institution. We perform 1 or 2 concerts per term in Cambridge and London, and have completed tours to many European countries including Hungary, Belgium, Germany and the Czech Republic.
