Description
Black Camel Racing is a motor racing stable run by Cambridge University Motor Sport Society, with the aim of preparing and racing cars in real club level competition. We provide our members with an introduction to the real world of racing, participating in the entire range of activities that epitomise a racing outfit: from a race car development program and various high performance tuning projects all the way to intense race driver training. The team also provides opportunities to hone marketing and organisational skills.
Black Camel Racing runs a fleet of Porsche 924 race cars. With its near 50-50 weight distribution it has remarkable handling characteristics and is one of the most cost effective race car formulas available. We run a fleet of 4 cars, with 3 fully prepared competition cars and 1 development vehicle, used to try out new performance tuning ideas on track.
Black Camel Racing was formed by members of Cambridge University, for members of Cambridge University. We offer an insight into real engineering, and the real running of a business. The engineering course at Cambridge is very theory orientated, with little chance to improve practical engineering skills, or learn business skills in a real working environment - we aim to fill these gaps in the syllabus, whilst doing something that is enjoyable, practical and worthwhile. Also, racing is in our blood - our team members have all had the desire to work in an automotive environment, and this is a fantastic opportunity to satisfy those desires.
