Summary
Gliding is flight in its purest form, soaring upward on unseen currents of air and racing for hundreds of miles across the countryside. CUGC offers students an affordable way to experience the thrill of sailing in the sky.
Description
Most members start with no flying experience, but are flying solo within a year. You will train with fully qualified instructors in two-seat gliders and then progress to sleek single-seat aircraft.
CUGC members compete in competitions, including a Varsity Match against Oxford, and organise trips to other gliding clubs in the Yorkshire Moors and the mountains of Wales and Scotland. We run trial flights in Christmas and Easter terms so that students can come along and see if they really enjoy flying before signing up as a member.
