Summary
We are the Cambridge University Chemical Engineering Society and our main job is to provide social and career events for students in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Cambridge University.
Description
Whilst not being an official part of the Department itself, our efforts are mainly centered around the undergraduate members; however graduates and staff are also invited to take part in most of our big events. We have four main social events which take place annually which are the Christmas Dinner, the Frank Morton Games, the Annual Dinner and the Summer BBQ. To find out more about the events that have taken place in the past and what happens then please see their individual pages. Every year we host many career events where companies such as ExxonMobil, GSK and Shell, to name but a few, visit the department to give presentations. The purpose of these events are to allow students to find out what is available in the world of work and what technical skills are required in such fields of work. They also give important information about internship opportunities with these companies and can often help people apply for them or subsequent job opportunities after graudation. For Chemical Engineering students there is also a Drinking Society called the Plumbers. They arrange some of their own social events as well and anyone can join - whether you drink alcohol or not! Please visit their page for more information.
